UNLV's TEDx planning team, a student initiative advised by the Provost ' office, is pleased to announce that the TEDxUNLV inaugural event, Flipping the Switch, is set for April 11, 2014 in Greenspun Hall Auditorium. TEDx is a global movement devoted to bringing Ideas Worth Spreading to communities around the globe through independently-organized TED-like events meant to inspire conversation, prompt innovation and create connections. Attendees at TEDxUNLV will experience TED's celebrated format: a suite of short, carefully prepared talks, demonstrations and performances on a wide range of subjects to foster learning, inspiration and wonder -- and to provoke conversations that matter. Additionally, the event will be live-streamed to viewing parties both on and off campus. TEDxUNLV organizers have chosen the theme Flipping the Switch to convey how UNLV and the Las Vegas community are energizing innovation, highlighted through three concepts: Imagine, Ignite, and Illuminate.
TEDxUNLV seeks proposals for interactive and engaging presentations related to change and innovation in all aspects of performance, research, and education. The Provost’s office is encouraging faculty and staff to participate in TEDxUNLV. If you have an “Idea Worth Spreading” we want to hear from you. The Call for Speakers/Proposals is available online at TEDxUNLV.com.
The TEDxUNLV planning team also welcomes ideas about how TEDxUNLV can serve as a vehicle to foster educational opportunities and multidisciplinary projects that enhance student knowledge and experience. If you would like to be involved, let us know through the TEDxUNLV website.
