School of Music Faculty Travel to Milan, Italy, Teaching, Performing in International Partnership

Professor Hamilton and UNLV violin professor Dr. Amborise Aubrun
Oct. 27, 2021

UNLV School of Music viola professor Kate Hamilton has spent several years creating and designing an international partnership between the School of Music and one of Europe’s oldest and most renowned institutions: the Milan Conservatory (Giuseppe Verdi di Milano) in Milan, Italy. To celebrate this new partnership, Professor Hamilton and UNLV violin professor Dr. Amborise Aubrun will travel to Milan in November 2021 for a week-long residency, giving masterclasses and performing chamber music on the conservatory’s chamber music series, collaboration with their faculty and others. School of Music graduate students John Rose, viola and Lucas Martins, violin, will be rehearsing and performing with the Milan Conservatory Symphony Orchestra.

It’s worth noting that this is the first-ever School of Music string division international partnership.

In its 200-year history, the Milan Conservatory has educated some of the world’s leading musicians- including Ricardo Muti, Gian Carlo Menotti, and Claudio Abbado.
