School of Architecture launches new book BILLBOARD

Jun. 4, 2019

The School of Architecture at UNLV has launched its new year book 2018-2019, entitled BILLBOARD 1. The book was launched at a public event and alumni reception on June 5th to celebrate 25 years of the accredited program in architecture.

Over the last 25 years, the School of Architecture has grown up alongside the design professions in Las Vegas, Southern Nevada, and the American Southwest. Las Vegas has always been seen as a unique laboratory and field of experimentation for new ideas of architecture and interior design.

On 360 pages, BILLBOARD provides an introduction to the various programs of teaching and impactful research that made up the last year. The BILLBOARD book presents countless projects, meaningful initiatives and programs, and demonstrates the school’s unique and on-going evolution.

The School of Architecture has intensive programs in architecture, landscape architecture, and interior architecture and design; and in 2020, is adding a new graduate program in Metropolitan Planning.

BILLBOARD presents the collective voice of the school that highlights the distinctive environment the school is building for informed speculation on the future of the American city. The work portrayed in BILLBOARD is the result of discourse and design exploration that empowered SoA's students to engage with challenging urban and social landscapes. The outcome has been work that expresses the generosity of spirit and citizenship that architecture and design are capable of promoting.

The BILLBOARD book should rather be seen as a window into the School of Architecture, than a book – one already open to you; with an invitation to visit the school.

The School of Architecture continues to grow in stature, evidenced by the diversity of work showcased here. Our graduates can look forward to a promising, fulfilling and rewarding career, and we wish them well as they move into the world of practice, informed by research and scholarship.
