Save the Date: Research Week at UNLV Oct. 12-16

Jul. 15, 2015

A variety of activities designed to highlight research at UNLV will be held during “Research Week at UNLV” Oct. 12-16.

UNLV’s Division of Research and Economic Development will partner with other university units and organizations to host events across campus, including an undergraduate research forum and poster session, a technology transfer expo, tours of research facilities, and a panel discussion with graduate students discussing their involvement in research.

The week’s events will culminate with “Research @ UNLV,” an annual presentation by Vice President for Research and Economic Development Tom Piechota on the status of campus research. This event is scheduled for Oct. 16 at 11:30 a.m. in the Science and Engineering Building.

During the week, the division will also hold its annual “Got Research?” events for new faculty, who will learn about the offices and functions that support research at UNLV. The Offices of Sponsored Programs, Research Integrity, and Economic Development will discuss their services.

Departments, colleges, and labs across campus are invited to hold their own events to bring attention to their research, scholarship, and creative activity during Research Week, according to Piechota.

“We want to shine a light on the incredible research and scholarly and creative activity at UNLV,” he said. “We hope the whole campus will participate by attending events and hosting their own.”

Members of the Southern Nevada community will be invited to attend the week’s events.

In addition to the Division of Research and Economic Development, sponsors of the event include the UNLV Libraries, the Graduate College, CSUN, the Provost’s Office, and the Office of Economic Development.

The Division of Research and Economic Development will maintain a list of all campus events being held as a part of Research Week. To add your event to the list of activities during Research Week, contact Jill Zimbelman at jill.zimbelman@unlv.edu or at 702-895-1828.
