The new RTC UNLV Transit Center will open on Thursday, September 5, 2013. Transit service from the center will include the RTC’s Centennial Express route, which stops at key locations including our campus and the Bonneville Transit Center in downtown Las Vegas, and travels northwest to the Centennial Hills Transit Center, located near US 95 and Durango Dr. A 6,640 sq. ft. facility located on the corner of Maryland Parkway and University Road, the transit center consists of an outdoor waiting area with area lighting, shade canopies, landscaping, and a large number of bicycle racks available for student and faculty use. The UNLV Transit Center is expected to have a positive impact on the environment by reducing the number of students and faculty who drive to campus, as well as supporting those who take transit as part of their daily commute. The project was funded through a combination of 80% Bus Facilities Livability Grant through the Federal Transit Administration and a 20% match from the RTC. Also note that transit route 602 will run from this center to Sam Boyd Stadium on football game days. To plan your transit trip or for details on fares, visit rtcsnv.com. The new UNLV Transit Pass, a discounted transit pass available to UNLV students and faculty, is sold at the UNLV Student Union, UNLV Bookstore and UNLV Parking Office. Your Rebel card is required for purchase.
