Rest in Prowess: An installation inspired by women from around the world who have influenced our lives
Rest in Prowess
Amanda Phingbodhipakkiya's Rest in Prowess installation makes its Las Vegas debut at the Barrick Museum of Art Fall 2019. Exploring the idea that we only live as long as there is someone who remembers us, the artist invites you to join us in thinking back on the stories of women from around the world who have influenced our lives. Anyone is welcome to tell a story. The piece is about celebrating women from all walks of life with different journeys, beginnings, and backgrounds. Stories will be collected from March - June 2019.
Amanda Phingbodhipakkiya's exhibition Connective Tissue is on view at the UNLV Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art from September 13th to December 29th, 2019.

Some prompts that may help:
• Can you tell us about a woman who has been extremely influential in your life?
• How are you related to her? (Please give her name as well)
• How has she contributed to your life?
• Can you tell us something that she told you that has stayed with you?
• Is there a particular anecdote that you will remember her by?
"Rest in Prowess is a celebration of the women we hold dear—to help us all reflect on the rich legacy of bold women in our communities," said Amanda Phingbodhipakkiya. "Your story will be shared through text on the Rest in Prowess site and projected in installation form. No audio recordings of your voice will be used."
