Dec. 11, 2017

On November 2nd the campus put together a Remembrance Ceremony at the Alumni Amphitheater. The event recognized UNLV's response to the campus community and honored those from the UNLV family who were injured or lost during the shooting.

The ceremony started off with a moment of silence and bagpipes played by Eric Poleski of the Clark County Fire Department. Shooting survivors Nick Robone, UNLV Assistant Hockey Coach, and Karessa Royce, UNLV student, shared their experiences and strong messages with the campus. Joshua Abellera, a UNLV student who was injured the night of the tragedy also shared his experience. Other speakers included UNLV President Len Jessup, CSUN President Christopher Roys, GPSA President Kanani Espinoza and the Dean of Fine Arts, Nancy Uscher.

UNLV TV and KUNV live-streamed the event for satellite campuses and viewers. Students hosted a special episode of Studio G dedicated to the UNLV One October remembrance ceremony. The episode covered memorials, vigils, and interviewed members of the community for the special episode that was followed by the live-streamed event.
