Provost's Welcome to New Faculty

Jun. 20, 2017

I am delighted to welcome you to UNLV! You are now among the 3,300 faculty and staff entrusted with guiding some 30,000 students to success at UNLV. You were recruited for your demonstrated strengths and achievements and your potential to contribute to our academic goals and campus culture. As a new faculty member, you bring to the campus an energy that will help intensify our progress in achieving status as a Top Tier university. We are proud to have you join our faculty community, a distinctive group of scholars and educators deeply committed to academic excellence.

At UNLV, we strive to uphold the highest standards of academic achievement. We recognize that maintaining those standards depends on the success of our faculty and staff in teaching, research, and service. New faculty orientation not only prepares you for success at UNLV but also provides you with mentoring and networking opportunities across campus. Thus, we are pleased to invite you to our New Faculty Orientation, Resource Fair, and President’s Reception, scheduled from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on August 10, 2017, in the UNLV Student Union.

Our goal is to orient you to UNLV’s mission and introduce you to the information and resources that will ensure your smooth transition to UNLV and the city of Las Vegas.

Please take a few minutes to explore our website and the new faculty orientation page for steps you should take prior to the orientation.

If you have questions about on-boarding, please let us know. Contact Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs, Ngai Pindell, at with questions regarding orientation, mentoring activities, or other faculty development initiatives.

Once again, welcome to UNLV – we are glad you are now a part of our campus community!
