Phase 2 COVID-19 Guidelines
Earlier this month, we began welcoming faculty and staff back to campus in preparation to begin seeing select patients in our advanced education and specialty clinics. We created guidelines to help all of us during this transition, and enhance everyone’s safety. Please speak with your supervisor if you have any questions.
Phase 2 COVID-19 Guidelines
Return to Work: After further review of personnel needs and assignments, UNLV Dental Medicine has determined many are unable to work remotely. Moving forward, faculty and staff will be expected to return to work. Faculty and staff must allow ample time to complete the screening process and be at your workstation by you designated start time.
Social Distancing Guidelines: Students, faculty, and staff must maintain a 6-foot distance between each other to the greatest extend practical.
Public Gathering Guidelines: Limit public and private gatherings to 10 or fewer people.
Face Covering: Faculty, staff, students, and residents are required to wear face masks when outside their offices and work areas. Face masks are always required when in clinics or clinical simulation labs. Students are always required to wear face masks while on campus. Level 1 face masks are provided to all faculty, staff, students, and residents. We encourage all to take steps to extend the life of these masks.
Guidelines for Office Areas: For those faculty and staff who share offices and work spaces, and cannot maintain a 6-foot distance between persons, Level 1 face masks must be worn at all times. Until further notice, students are not allowed in offices and work areas with the exception of clinical offices and clinical or clinical simulation work areas.
Illness/COVID-19 Symptom Guidelines: Any faculty, staff, student, and resident who experiences symptoms of COVID-19 must stay home and self-isolate for 14 days. They should contact their physician immediately to schedule testing, and must be cleared by their physician prior to returning to campus.
Guidelines for Students: In all cases, students are allowed on campus for preassigned activities only. Once the activity is completed, students are required to leave campus. Until further notice, students will schedule virtual meetings with faculty and staff with the exception of activities that require in-person meetings (e.g., dispensary activities, completing student checkout process). During these face-to-face encounters, students, faculty, and staff will wear Level 1 face coverings.
Travel Restrictions: Faculty, staff, students, and residents are required to report any travel outside of Nevada to Dental Administration. Anyone who has traveled outside our state will be required to self-isolate and monitor their health for 14 days before being allowed to return to campus. Anyone found to provide false information will be subject to disciplinary action.
Travel Restriction Exception: Effective immediately, all UNLV Dental Medicine licensed providers (e.g., faculty, dental hygienists, and residents) and members of administration deemed essential employees are exempt from the 14-day self-isolation guideline unless they return from places that are on the CDC travel advisories. However, out of an abundance of caution, faculty, residents, or other essential employees who are exposed to persons symptomatic of or diagnosed with COVID-19 must self-isolate and monitor their health at home for 14 days prior to returning to campus. UNLV Human Resources is being consulted to determine how to record the 14-day self-isolation time period in Workday.
