4pm to 5pm

Have you seen the Netflix dramedy The Chair? Laughed nervously? Marveled at what a good job it did of summing up the academic life? Had to stop watching because it hit too close to home?

However you felt about the show, it is certainly a jumping-off point for a discussion of about what life is like for college faculty today. We invite you to join us at the Faculty Center for a discussion about the series as part of Ombuds Week.

In a group discussion moderated by Dr. Anne Stevens (chair of the Department of Interdisciplinary, Gender, and Ethnic Studies), we will talk about the show’s depiction of department politics, campus issues, interpersonal conflict, and the challenges facing faculty at all stages of their careers. Everyone in attendance is invited to share their thoughts as part of the conversation, so if you’ve been looking for a chance to talk about the show, this is it.

This will be a hybrid, RebelFlex style discussion. Join us in person at the Faculty Center (BEH 235) or on Zoom.

Please register for the event here.
