NV State Legislature Approves $36.8M for New Advanced Engineering Building (AEB)
Message from Dean Venkat:
Dear UNLV Engineering Supporters and Stakeholders,
I have exciting news to share!
The 81st session of the Nevada State Legislature has approved the $36.8 million the College and UNLV requested for the construction of our new Advanced Engineering Building (AEB). (Assembly Bill 492, Project Number 21-C05) The AEB project was ranked as the top capital improvement project for NSHE during this latest legislative session.
With a total project cost of $73.6 million, the $36.8 million required match will come from UNLV bonding and private support.
As many of you know, getting to this point has been a very long road. We could not have done it without the unwavering support of UNLV, NSHE, elected officials, donors and so many of you. To date, private support has generated $8.4 million in commitments to supplement university funding, enhance facilities, and reduce the carrying debt load. We continue to fundraise for the building and have many naming and other opportunities for those of you who want to be included. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly to discuss support options.
The College is thrilled to start this next phase of our growth, adding more hands-on learning spaces and research labs to contribute to UNLV’s R-1 research status, train the next generation of engineering and computer scientists, and help diversity Nevada’s economy.
Thank you for your support, and we look forward to breaking ground in spring 2022.
