Now Accepting Applications for 2017-2018 OUR Travel Funding!

The Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR-UNLV) is accepting applications for OUR-UNLV Travel Funding. This award allocates up to $500 to assist undergraduate student researchers with travel to an academic conference, symposium, or other venue to present their scholarly work, or travel for research purposes (e.g., data collection, sample analysis, etc.). 

Application Deadline: Applications for 2017-2018 OUR Travel funding will be accepted on a continuous basis with a rolling deadline of the 1st of each month until funding is exhausted, and applications must be submitted prior to the commencement of travel for which funding is requested. Applications will be reviewed later in the month in which they are received (except during winter break when the review committee will be on hiatus). 

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be in good academic standing
  • Applicants must be admitted and currently enrolled in a recognized undergraduate degree program at UNLV 
  • The research or project being conducted or presented must have been completed under the guidance of an NSHE academic faculty member
  • Where required, all approvals for the ethical conduct of research and safety in research must have been obtained for the project being presented
  • Recipients of this funding are required to present their work at one or more of the following events: the Spring Undergraduate Research Forum, the Fall Undergrad Research Slam, or the Summer Research Symposium. Failure to do so will result in suspension of eligibility for future OUR Travel Funding.

Application Process: Detailed instructions for each section outlined below can be found in the Travel Funding Instructions document on the right hand side of this page. Applications should be submitted to the Office of Undergraduate Research through the online application form. Each application must contain, and is limited to, the following:

  • Completed online application form
  • Signed and dated cover page
  • Project description/explanation of activities (1 page maximum)
  • Acceptance letter/email indicating that your presentation has been accepted by the conference/forum (for conference travel only)
  • Itemized, detailed, and justified budget
  • Letter of recommendation from your faculty research mentor
  • Where required, all approvals for the ethical conduct of research and safety in research must have been obtained for the project being presented

Applications missing any component are considered incomplete and therefore will not be considered for OUR travel funding
