The Graduate College is very pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Kendall Hartley as its new Associate Dean of Academic Affairs. Dr. Hartley is an Associate Professor of Educational Technology and has served as Assistant Chair in the Department of Teaching and Learning for 6 years. He earned his Ph.D. in education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1999. Since joining UNLV, Dr. Hartley has served as co-director of the interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in Learning & Technology for the last 8 years, and he has served two terms as Faculty Senate representative. As an expert in effective instructional uses of technology, he has published widely in the area of hypermedia, and his latest research activities address are the use of open-source technologies in online education. He has chaired or co-chaired committees for ten doctoral graduates, and in 2002 he was awarded the College of Education Distinguished New Faculty Award.
