Nancy Rapoport Returning to Full-Time Faculty
Dear Campus Community,
As UNLV’s Officer in Charge for the remainder of Fiscal Year 18, I wanted to let you know that Nancy Rapoport, Special Counsel to President Jessup, has decided to transition back to the Boyd School of Law as full-time faculty in her role as the Garman Turner Gordon Professor of Law. The move is effective July 1, 2018.
Nancy has served in various central administration roles over the last five years and has made numerous contributions to the university during that time. Since 2017, in her role as Special Counsel, she has overseen the university’s Top Tier initiative, was responsible for the formation and oversight of the Office of Community Engagement, and oversaw the Office of Compliance, as well as the Ombuds function. She also led many university-wide initiatives and represented the university on key issues.
Previously, Nancy was Acting Executive Vice President and Provost in 2015-2016, and served as Senior Advisor to Presidents Jessup and Don Snyder in 2014-2015. She also was Acting Senior Vice President for Finance and Business last summer during the transition to Jean Vock, and continued to teach periodically in the Boyd School of Law during her five-year span in central administration.
It has been a distinct pleasure to work with Nancy since my arrival as Executive Vice President and Provost in May 2016. Nancy’s work over the past five years has been invaluable in sustaining our institution’s momentum. We thank her for the passion she displays continuously for UNLV, and wish her well in her return to full-time faculty.
Diane Z. Chase, Ph.D.
