Modern Dance Performance at the Barrick Museum of Art

Friday, May 12, 7pm

Join us at the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art on the last Friday of our 2017 Spring exhibition season for a special performance of "They Snowing" and "Pine Tree", two cherished choreographies by American modern dance icon Erick Hawkins.  Erick Hawkins (1909 – 1994) was a leading American modern dance choreographer and dancer. Students from the UNLV Department of Dance will perform in Hawkins’ original costumes, courtesy of department chair Louis Kavouras and the Erick Hawkins West Institute. The performance will be followed by a conversation about the relationship between modern dance choreography and the visual arts. Part of the Barrick’s 50th Anniversary celebrations, this event is free and open to the public.
