Minnie Wood Earns UNLV Service-Learning Award

Apr. 2, 2018

Minnie Wood earned the Service-Learning Award from the UNLV Office of Community Engagement for her project “Population Health Nursing in the Community: A Course for Baccalaureate Nursing Students.” The student-focused project explores concepts of population-focused healthcare across diverse populations defined by socio-demographic and geographic boundaries. Students receive clinical experiences in laboratory and community settings, and may perform individual assessments, use population health data to guide community interventions, perform direct-service at agencies, or conduct a series of health education activities. The project comprises multiple community organizations including Meals on Wheels, Salvation Army, and the Boys and Girls club.
