A message of thanks to faculty, staff and students
Jul. 24, 2020
Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,
As my two-year presidency comes to an end, I want to reach out and express how proud I am of this university. So much has transpired in a short, yet action-packed, two years and we have accomplished an enormous amount together, through thick and thin. Thank you for all your passion, support, and collaboration. Thank you for your faith and confidence in me, and thank you for your commitment to our important educational mission.
I want to congratulate the new incoming president, Dr. Keith Whitfield of Wayne State University, and welcome him to Las Vegas. His selection as our next president is a significant milestone in UNLV’s history, and he will quickly discover how dynamic and exciting our university is. I will work closely with him to ensure a smooth leadership transition, and I ask you to embrace his presidency and do everything possible to continue the momentum of UNLV – especially through these challenging times. Your informed support and collaboration are a crucial part of a President’s success.
As far as my future plans: I’m taking some extended time off beginning next week to address a few pressing family matters, and then I will be returning to my scholarship and research. I already have a few publication deadlines looming! Eventually, I will be transitioning back to faculty and to the students who have always brought me so much joy.
Hopefully, our paths will continue to cross, either figuratively or literally, when we all return to our beautiful campus.
Wishing you happiness and health,
Marta Meana, Ph.D.
