May 6-8, 2021 - MFA Open Studios and Artist Talks
The Department of Art and the Vegas Institute for Contemporary Engagement invites you to MFA Drive Through Open Studios May 7-8 and MFA Artist talks May 6.
Visitors are invited to view work from the safety of their cars in a drive-through art event Friday May 7 and Saturday May 8, 6-9pm. The Graduate Art Studios are located in a former Carl's Jr., complete with drive through windows. At the Drive Through Open Studios, video projections, paintings, sculptures, and window art can all be experienced from the parking lot.

A virtual artist talk event will take place on Thursday, May 6 from 6PM to 7:30PM (PST) on Zoom and Facebook, and will allow the public the opportunity to hear with the artists to discuss their work in depth.

The annual Open Studios event is an opportunity to engage with Master of Fine Arts candidates in Art and experience works in video, installation, painting, performance, collage, sculpture and photography. This year’s artists are exploring a wide range of contemporary themes and conceptual concerns including play and process, gender and the body, indigenous cultures, digital identities, and more.
Participating artists: Aaron Cowan, Cida de Aragon, Erin K. Drew, Fawn Douglas, Keeva Lough, John McVay, Lyssa Park, Laurence Myers Reese, Emily Sarten, Xiaomeng Tang, and Shelby Westika.
The Drive Thru Open Studios Event will be located at the GRS Building 4570 Maryland S. Parkway (the old Carl’s Jr. at Harmon and Maryland Parkway). Free parking is available in the parking lots in front of Grant Hall and Alta Ham Fine Arts. Limited parking is available on-site at GRS.
