Many UNLV faculty will give presentations during the meeting, which includes 24 special sessions, contributed paper sessions, and four main addresses. The special sessions and the contributed paper sessions are held fro 8-11 a.m. and 3-6 p.m. on the two days. The meeting is a large international conference with at least 24 different areas of math represented in the 24 special sessions.

Previously, the math department has hosted a spring sectional meeting of the American Mathematical Society in 2011, 2001, and 1999.

About AMS Meetings
The AMS holds eight sectional meetings annually. Generally, there is one meeting in the spring and one in the fall in each section of the U.S. The Western section is comprised of those states west of Nebraska (and those provinces of Canada north of that portion of the U.S.).

More information about the Spring Western Sectional Meeting can be found on the AMS website.
