Liberal Arts Professors Named UNLV Winners in Nevada Regents' Awards Program
Four liberal arts professors have been named UNLV winners and will represent the university in the 2018 Nevada Regents’ awards program, which recognizes outstanding research, service and creative activities. They will compete with other Nevada institutional winners for systemwide awards, which will be announced in the spring. Winners are:
- 2018 Nevada Regents’ Researcher Award — Joel Snyder, associate professor of psychology, for distinguished accomplishments in the study of auditory perception and cognition.
- 2018 Nevada Regents’ Creative Activities Award — Claudia Keelan, professor of English, in part, for her recent visit to Cuba as a member of the first American delegation of poets to participate in the Havana Poetry Festival.
- 2018 Nevada Regents’ Rising Researcher Award — Georgiann Davis, assistant professor of sociology, for her award-winning research about intersex and the sociology of diagnosis and gender theories.
- 2018 UNLV Academic Advisor Award (graduate level) — Michelle Paul, associate director of clinical training in the psychology department and director of The PRACTICE, for coordinating and guiding the practicum experiences of doctoral students.
