Two-time UNLV graduate, Jody Walker Belsick, '97 BS Civil Engineering and '10 EMBA, has been named 2012 Alumna of the Year by the Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering.
A Las Vegas native who built her career in Southern Nevada, Jody is the founder and president of Walker Engineering, LLC, which has hired several other UNLV engineering graduates as the company has grown. She is a supporter of the College of Engineering through the Dean's Associates program, and serves on the college's advisory board, in addition to being a member of the College of Business Alumni Association and serving on the the alumni committee for the Executive Master's in Business Administration program. With a passion for her home city, Jody is involved in philanthropic activities around the greater community, demonstrated through her membership in the United Way's Young Philanthropist Society.
With degrees in both engineering and business disciplines, Jody embodies what the College of Engineering sees as a vital mission. "Jody is a shining example of what we have really been focusing on - educating and training not only engineers, but technology entrepreneurs, especially women and under-represented minorities," says engineering Dean Rama Venkat. "She is an excellent role model for our students."
Jody will be recognized by the UNLV Alumni Association at a November 2 homecoming reception.
