UNLV has filed 31 patent applications in the last four years, according to the Division of Research and Economic Development, and it has more than 140 research disclosures on file and 14 patents listing UNLV inventors. Eighteen research disclosures have been filed in the last year alone.
The division has recently enhanced support of faculty development of intellectual property, according to Tom Piechota, Interim Vice President for Research and Economic Development. In May 2012 the division established the Office of Technology Development and Transfer, which helps faculty and staff bring discoveries and inventions to the marketplace. The division also formed the Intellectual Property Committee in 2012 to evaluate and promote university intellectual property.
If you are affiliated with UNLV and believe you have invented or discovered new intellectual property, the Office of Technology Development and Transfer staff would like to discuss opportunities to help you protect and commercialize your invention/discovery.
