The UNLV SSW Behavioral Health Training Project is funded by the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA). In partnership with local integrated health providers, the UNLV School of Social Work has developed and expanded its clinical social work education program with the express goal of preparing highly competent practitioners who can intervene on behalf of children, adolescents, and transitional-age youths who are at risk of or who have developed behavioral health disorders.

  • The training project provides enhanced social work field education, four specialized courses related to children’s mental health, mentoring, and career preparation, and a $10,000 stipend for direct practice graduate social work students who are completing their final year of full-time enrollment leading to the master of social work degree.

  • Trainees must apply to the UNLV SSW Behavioral Health Training Project which will begin Summer 2017. Applicants accepted into the training project are required to sign a letter of commitment indicating their intent to pursue careers in the area of children’s mental health upon graduation.
