Hailey Dawson in the News

For more than 18 months, UNLV Engineering students and faculty have worked to develop a variety of robotic 3-D printed hands for five-year-old Hailey Dawson. Students and faculty members Brendan O'Toole and Mohammed Trabia, worked on printing parts, assembling, painting, creating stencils, making a motorizer version and fitguring out how to improve the device for Hailey.

UNLV engineers' hard work was displayed when Hailey threw the first pitch for the Balitomore Orioles game in August 2015 in front of a worldwide audience.  Nearly 80 stories about this project were written and aired from all over the U.S., Canada, England, Ireland, Italy, Korea, New Zealand, and Australia. The story was covered by MLB, ESPN, Fox Business News, Fox & Friends, ABC, CBS, Bleacher report, CNET, CNN, Entertainment News (E!), Fox Sports, Hollywood Gossip, Mirror UK, NY Daily News, NY Post, NY Magazine, Orioles.com, People, SB Nation, SF Chronicle, Sporting News, SportsCenter, Sports Illustrated, Sports Grid, Stuff, Tech Times, The Blaze, TMZ, Total Pro Sports, Twitchy, USA Today, Varney & Company,TV and radio stations around the nation, Wide World of Sports, WorldNews, Yahoo Sports, 3Ders, 3D Print and a YouTube video with more than 80,000 views and growing.
