Grad-school bound graduates and award winners from IGES

Graduate School Bound:

Christa Clayton (Multidisciplinary Studies -- Psychology, Sociology, and Family Studies) will begin pursuing her MS in Marriage and Family Therapy at UNLV.

Jacqueline Eddy (Multidisciplinary Studies -- Education and Psychology) will begin pursuing her Education Specialist degree in School Psychology at UNLV.

Leland Monson (Multidisciplinary Studies -- Theatre and English) will embark on his MFA in poetry at the University of New Orleans.

Kayleen Schenck (Multidisciplinary Studies – Dance and Theatre) will attend École nationale de cirque in Paris, France.

Elisa Woinowsky (Multidisciplinary Studies -- Psychology, Film, and Media Studies) will enter UNLV’s M.A. program in Journalism and Media Studies.

Awards and Honors:

Gender & Sexuality Studies major Briceida Hernandez-Toledo was selected by UNLV President Len Jessup as an Outstanding Graduate to be honored at the Spring 2017 commencement ceremony.

Two IDS students are recipients of the 2017 University Libraries Lance & Elena Calvert Undergraduate Research Award in the Advanced Undergraduate Research Category. Claudia Chiang-Lopez won for her IDS Capstone, "Barbie doesn't have Bruises: Gendered Images of Anxiety and Avoidant Attachment in Films"(Faculty Research Mentor: Kendra Gage). Brianna Cotter won for her IDS Capstone, "Prescribing Change for Minority Students: Diagnosing Inequalities in Science Education in Clark County School District" (Faculty Research Mentor: Tim Gauthier).

Multidisciplinary Studies major Brianna Cotter took first place in the Interdisciplinary Presentations of the UNLV Undergraduate Research Forum in Spring 2017 for her project, “Prescribing Change for Minority Students: Diagnosing Inequalities in Science Education in the Clark County School District.”

Multidisciplinary Studies major Sara Meraz and her co-presenter Paola Gonzalez took first place in the Business and Liberal Arts Presentations of the UNLV Undergraduate Research Forum in Spring 2017 for their project, “Soldaderas and their Roles in the Mexican Revolution.”
