GMAC Assessments Updates
The Graduate Management Admissions Council (GMAC) recently provided the below information about its progress toward providing online testing options for the GMAT™ exam and Executive Assessment and on global test taker support during the global pandemic caused by COVID-19.
Online Testing Alternatives
We remain on track for a mid-April delivery of an interim online alternative solution for the GMAT™ exam. The test will have a comparable structure to the GMAT™ exam delivered in test centers. The Quant, Verbal and IR sections (no AWA section) will have the same number of items and the same time for completion. This will allow us to maintain the same score scale for both the Section Scores and Total Score. The check-in and security protocols will be modified to accommodate online delivery and remote human proctors will be used to manage test integrity.
We have also been actively working towards launching an interim online alternative to the Executive Assessment (“EA”) for use during the test center closures. We are pleased to share that we will target registration availability for the EA solution by the end of April.
The interim online EA solution will be delivered via the same online platform as the GMAT™ alternative. It will have a comparable test structure, and identical timing and score scale to the test-center based Executive Assessment. We will continue to share more specifics about the alternative EA in the coming days.
GMAT™ and EA interim solutions will be made available to test takers and schools in all impacted markets, outside of mainland China. GMAC continues to work with the Chinese government authorities to present appropriate, alternative solutions for test-takers in mainland China.
Our focus with both solutions is maintaining valid and reliable assessments you can trust, with the relevant security practices and protocols in place, to fairly evaluate a candidate’s ability to succeed in a graduate business program.
Test takers who have been preparing to take the GMAT™ exam and the Executive Assessment in person can feel confident in continuing their online practice with the GMAT™ & Executive Assessment Official Practice materials, as their preparation will be relevant to the online, proctored experience.
GMAT™ Test Taker Support Update
As test center closures expand with the spread of the pandemic, our partner Pearson VUE continues to work with test-takers to manage their appointments and provide full refunds where necessary. Test centers that remain open have instituted social distancing and enhanced health & safety measures.
We continue to deploy additional flexibility for our test takers during this unprecedented time. This week we began waiving all fees to reinstate previously canceled GMAT™ exam scores. Candidates have taken advantage of this opportunity to reinstate strong scores to finalize their applications. In addition, we continue to waive all appointment reschedule fees. Test takers not limited by travel restrictions can continue to reschedule their exam to another date and/or location at no charge. Finally, we are in the process of providing an additional free prep product to candidates with GMAT™ appointments affected by test center closures. We hope this will be an opportunity for test-takers to continue building their confidence before their exam.
