Fall 2021 schedule update from the President and Provost

Aug. 17, 2021

Dear Students,

In just a few days, we kick off fall 2021, and we are thrilled to see many more of you on campus, learning, exploring and sharing your journey with us.

The recent surge of COVID-19 infections in our community has driven several changes just as the new semester begins. Thank you for your ongoing support and flexibility. It has been taxing, no doubt, to adjust so close to the first day of school. But we continue to have health and safety as a top priority.

Below, please find the latest campus updates and resources for the fall 2021 semester.

Fall 2021 Schedule

Most classes for fall 2021 will be in person.

  • To protect vulnerable students and faculty, we have allowed for additional courses to switch to remote delivery. We expect the changes will be complete on or about Aug. 18.
  • Courses that change from in-person to remote synchronous instruction will not incur the distance education fee or any other additional costs.
  • You will be notified of schedule changes via MyUNLV and RebelMail. Please be sure to check your email and review your schedule in MyUNLV  regularly for any updates.
  • UNLV provides resources to help you learn remotely and succeed as an online learner.
  • UNLV offers subsidies for internet service to students who do not have home internet access. The subsidies enhance student savings for home internet access through the Cox Cares program.
  • Computer labs will be open. If you are planning to participate in a remote class from a computer lab, you must bring your own headphones.
  • Given the COVID-19 resurgence, UNLV will offer S/U grading for the summer 2021 and fall 2021 terms. Deadlines and details will be shared in a separate message, and posted on the UNLV COVID-19 student information page. If you request a change to S/U grading for any of your courses, the Office of the Registrar will make changes according to the following equivalencies:
    • S = “C” or better for undergraduate students; B- or better for graduate students
    • U = “C-” or lower for undergraduate students; C+ or lower for graduate students

Again, thank you for helping UNLV continue to meet the moment with grace, compassion and care. We are excited to see all you will accomplish this year. Go Rebels!
