Fall 2020 Student Health Insurance Waivers Due Oct. 5
The student health insurance waiver period for graduate and professional students for the fall 2020 semester is May 4-Oct. 5, 2020. Students must complete a waiver once every academic year. Waivers completed in previous years will not carry over.
UNLV is now partnering with a new enrollment company, Academic HealthPlans (AHP). While the insurance plan terms and benefits are the same as previous years, how students enroll in the plan or file a waiver if they have other comparable insurance is a little different. With AHP's One-click system, students can both enroll and file a waiver on the same site. Although the fee for the insurance will still be added to full-time student accounts, students will need to go into the enrollment tab and activate their insurance. Students will not show active in the insurance system with Wellfleet unless they enroll/activate their insurance on AHP's site. This means if students go to a doctor's visit without having activated their insurance they will not be found as enrolled in the insurance plan. Please visit AHP's website to review.
If students do not complete a new waiver for the 2020-21 academic year, the charge will remain on their account and they will be enrolled in the student health insurance. Thus, if students fail to submit their waiver by the end of the day on Oct. 5, 2020, they will be required to pay the cost for student health insurance. This is non-negotiable.
After the health insurance fee appears on a student account, students will have to wait three business days before they are able to submit their health insurance fee waiver. This is the amount of time it takes for their information to be sent to our health insurance enrollment company, Academic HealthPlans; once they have it, students will be recognized in their system as a UNLV student impacted by the mandatory health insurance policy, and thereby be able to submit a waiver. If students attempt to submit a waiver before the three full business day timeline, they will not be recognized by the Academic HealthPlans system and their waiver will not process.
