Department of Health Care Administration & Policy announces Spring 2018 OptumCare Fellows
Norsiah Castellanos, Business Operations Fellow at OptumeCare, is a 2017 graduate from UNLV in the Masters of Healthcare Administration program, where she was also the Secretary for the Student Veterans of America, Rebel Women Veterans Organization. She holds a BS in Social Science from Wayland Baptist University, where she graduated with Honors.
Norsiah is a military veteran, serving five years and holding several positions of leadership. She has worked in the healthcare industry for over a year and is interested in business and strategy management opportunities in health care. As someone who values compassion and service to the greater good, it was only natural for Norsiah to find a career that allowed her to do just that; work in and strive to advance a healthcare system that works to improve the lives of the many. In her spare time, you can find Norsiah volunteering in her military veteran community, practicing the art of muscular competition, and spending time with her husband, dog, and family.
Jeffrey Walker, Business Operations Fellow at Optum Healthcare, is a 2016 graduate from UNLV in the Masters of Healthcare Administration program. He holds a BS in Kinesiology Allied Health, AA in Surgical Technology and is the current President of the Association of Surgical Technologists for the state of Nevada. Previously, Jeffrey worked as the Director of Clinical Resources for Hospital Corporation of America where he led strategies and processes for reduction in supply expenses hospital-wide.
Through his passion for the Healthcare industry, Jeffrey managed to learn the developmental strategies to reinforce his pursuit of healthcare operations. He has worked in the industry for 9 years in various roles to maintain a well-rounded status. As a Las Vegas native, Jeffrey has volunteered at multiple hospital systems and educational facilities where he found his passion for community service. Jeffrey has a wife and two children ages 5 and 20 months old. In his free time, he likes to remain active as a runner and teaching his boys to play sports.
