Department of Art Students Create Murals for new Apartment Complex

Mar. 6, 2020

Some of our UNLV Department of Art students painted murals in the parking garages at The Degree apartment complex on Maryland Parkway! Bravo!

These murals were created during the Fall 2019 semester as part of Pasha Rafat’s “Art in Public Places” class Art 404/604.

Artists include:

Kenneth Descalso, Yeji Ha, Yunnie Lin, Yuino Nakabayashi, Sydney Pressman, Danielle Thompson, Isabel Valadez, Paola Graciela Chire-Ortiz, Amanda McGurk, Homero Hidalgo.

The areas where the murals are located in the garage are highly trafficked by residents and their guests.

The Degree is a 226 unit student apartment community with 2 and 4 bedroom units that houses up to 758 students.

Spring 2020 semester, the same class is working on two additional murals and will begin working on them in March 2020 on levels 4 & 5 of the Degree garage.
