Dear Engineering and CS Students:

The College has an unprecedented challenge on its hand in terms of COVID-19.  We are first and foremost interested in the safety and health of all our students, staff and faculty. Therefore, almost all of our operations will be done remotely until April 13th.  We will reevaluate the situation around that time and communicate any changes then.

The College is working hard to ensure that course material is delivered online to you. Of course this is going to be a challenge, and there will be difficulties. I request your patience with any shortcomings you experience, and ask that you report any issues you face directly to me at  rama.venkat@unlv.edu

Within the next week, you should be hearing from all of your instructors regarding online coursework and requirements.

In the meantime, I discourage students working on group projects (i.e. Senior Design projects, competition projects) to get together and work on the project in close quarters. Please try and maintain at least a 6 foot distance from each other. Better yet, if possible, work on the project one at a time. If you can postpone working on the project, please do consider it and discuss it with your instructor and faculty mentor. Also, please take all precautionary safety measures such as washing hands periodically and using hand sanitizers, etc.

You will have a lot of time on your hands. Please use this time wisely to study and educate yourself the best you can given the challenging circumstances we are in.

If you are experiencing a fever, cough, or shortness of breath, call your primary care provider or the Student Health Center (702) 895-3370.
Some of you may feel anxious or stressed about the situation. If this is the case, you may seek help at Student Counseling and Psychological Services. Call (702) 895-3627 or email caps@unlv.edu for an appointment.

If you have any other issues or challenges you face, and if you think that I can be of help, please contact me at rama.venkat@unlv.edu

We will get through this challenge together!
