CNN/Greenspun College of Urban Affairs Event Oct. 19

Join the Greenspun College of Urban Affairs and CNN for an informative discussion about the influence of social media on political elections on Oct. 19, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Greenspun Hall. 

Jon Castagnino, Social Media Coordinator for the Hank Greenspun School of Journalism and Media Studies, will be the moderator.

A panel of CNN digital journalists will accompany Castagnino during the event. The panel features: Vanessa Yurkevich, CNN Digital Correspondent; Chris Moody, CNN Politics Senior Digital Correspondent; and Samantha Barry, CNN Senior Director of Social News.


The event is open to UNLV students, faculty and staff only. The event is free, but tickets are required. Please RSVP here. In the event that you cannot attend please contact Afsha Bawany ( or Amaya Worthem ( so that your ticket can be given to another interested attendee.

A current Rebel ID must be shown with your ticket to gain access to the event.

Mobile or printed tickets will be accepted.


1. Will the event be recorded or available to view after the event? No.

2. Can I interview the panelists and moderator? Yes, interviews may be conducted immediately after the event for a brief period of time.

3. Can I bring a friend or family member? Individuals with current UNLV Rebel ID and a ticket can attend the event.


Please plan to arrive at the event early. Parking is available on a first-come, first-serve basis and will not be reserved for this event. Parking is available in the University Gateway Parking Garage.

The entrance to this garage is on Dorothy Avenue on the south side of the building from Maryland Parkway. Parking will be available to all UNLV valid permit holders in most locations, with the exception of the first floor, the ramp leading to the second floor, or the top floor. Directional signs in and around the facility will alert you to the proper places to park. 

Please use the intersection signal at University Road and Maryland Parkway when crossing to the campus side of the street rather than using the pedestrian crossing farther north. Do not cross at unmarked or non-designated locations. Any questions can also be directed to Parking and Transportation Services at 702-8951300.
