Business title changes for academic and administrative faculty

Dec. 28, 2020

Business title changes are changes to a person’s working title that do not affect compensation, job profile, or grade.

Effective immediately, compensation/classification will review business title change requests via Workday and will no longer accept business title changes requests sent to titlechge@unlv.edu.

Initiating business title changes in Workday for administrative staff:

  • For filled positions, initiate the “Edit Position” business process and use the “Edit Job Duties” reason code
    • Attach revised PDQ with new business title
    • Attach justification that includes new business title and approval from appointing authority (provost / VP)
  • For vacant positions, initiate the “Edit Position Restrictions” business process and use the “Edit Job Duties” reason code
    • Initiate this process prior to recruitment
    • Attach the revised PDQ with new business title
    • Attach justification and approval from appointing authority (provost / VP)

Reminders:
•    Departments should ensure correct business titles are associated with all positions.
•    Departments must submit business title changes for review.
•    Departments should not commit a position to business title change without obtaining HR’s approval first.
•    Department business managers or HR liaisons are responsible for obtaining appropriate PDQs for submission and review.
•    Business title changes must be supported by the department head / VP prior to submitting to HR.
