Description

Don’t know where to start? UNLV & Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art bring you a beginner-friendly workshop! Learn the fundamentals of coding needed to build and style your very own website in a judgment-free zone taught by Code Ladies. Questions encouraged! By the end of this two-hour class, you’ll have a live website and web address to share with friends and family.

*Please check-in at our reception after you have RSVPed, get your nametag and be sure to grab a laptop from Tech Impact if you need one!

There will be also an array of food and snacks provided during our reception at 7PM. Mix and mingle! Get to know other aspiring coders before we start! Food sponsored and provided by Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art and WRIN.


Parking

After-Hours Parking (Free). After 7 p.m., visitors may park in any available faculty/staff, student, or metered parking lots for free. PLEASE NOTE: Before 7 p.m., these parking spaces with meters are paid by phone or coins. Alternate option of free lot is below.

Free Lot

If attendees prefer to arrive at the event early (before 7 PM), there is a free parking lot on campus: Lot S (corner of Harmon and Swenson). No permit is required to park in this lot.

Code Ladies (Instructors & TA's [Teacher Assistants])

Rachel W.: Rachel is a coding guru for both front-end and back-end development. She teaches AP Computer Science and is the Director of Equipo Academy (the first public college-prep school in East Las Vegas). During the weekends, she is teaching more coding at Turing School of Software & Design in Denver, CO as an instructor and Co-Director of Academics. 

Sylvia M.: Sylvia is a front-end developer at Penn National Gaming. Where she currently applies both UX Design and Web Development best practices. She graduated from Tech Academy Portland in 2015 in their Software Engineer curriculum and found front-end development to be her area of focus and specialization that she enjoys most.

Lorrie May M.: Lorrie May is both a creative designer and a front-end developer. She specializes in visual creation of graphics, illustration, web, branding, front-end development, and UI/UX. She has done design (graphic and web) and programming for Honey Baked Ham Co., Re-Bath, ZIPS Dry Cleaners and other brands. She also develops a creative direction for our team!
