As the country has seen a demographic shift in our K-12 system, UNLV continues to experience a surge in enrolled students from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds. Being termed an HSI (Hispanic Serving Institution), an MSI (Minority Serving Institution), and having an undergraduate enrollment in which more than half self-identify as a racial or ethnic minority does not come without classroom challenges. If you are interested in implementing strategies on how to create safe spaces and address student concerns regarding inclusion, then please join us for:
Equity and Inclusion in the Classroom
with Dan Gianoutsos, Malayka Cornejo, and Raquel Casas
How can instructors support the holistic development of UNLV's diverse students? How can instructors respond to challenges faced by our students, including racism and immigration concerns? In this panel, UNLV faculty members will discuss classroom practices that promote inclusion and diversity of thought and support our diverse student body. Snacks will be provided to attendees.
Offsite participants may connect to this event via Zoom.
When: Wednesday, April 17th, 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Location: Student Union, Room 205
Thanks, and we hope to see you there!
