Alumnus' Foundation Donates $30K to Establish Endowment Fund in Support of Scholarships

Nov. 7, 2018

Alambana Foundation Endowment Fund will provide financial support for UNLV College of Engineering undergraduate and graduate students.

The Alambana Foundation, founded by Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering graduate Sreenivasulu Maheshwarla, recently committed $30,000 to establish the Alambana Foundation Endowment Fund.

Maheshwarla, who graduated in electrical and computer engineering, is an entrepreneur who has used his financial success to help disadvantaged students gain access to education in order to transform their lives. While primarily providing financial support to indigent students in India, the Alambana Foundation - in Sanskrit, Alambana means “support” – this gift enables the Foundation to extend its reach and assist international college students looking to study in the United States.

In recognition of the growing demand for STEM professionals, the Foundation chose to focus their support on undergraduate and graduate students with a declared interest in the engineering profession. These students would ideally be interdisciplinary thinkers who have a passion for helping solve some of the greatest engineering problems of the 21st century.
