Aeriel Halstead from Class of 2015 accepted into Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program
Aeriel Halstead, a 2015 alum of the NEW Leadership Program, was recently accepted to the Clinical Psychology PhD program at Brigham Young University. Beginning this fall, her research will focus on preventative interventions for intimate partner violence. Aeriel will be working to develop computer based programs to make therapeutic treatment accessible to urban populations typically lacking in resources. In speaking of the program Aeriel said, "Along with an awareness of issues impacting our community, like interpersonal violence, NEW Leadership helped to inspire a confidence in my ability to play an important part in making change in my community. I ultimately plan to come back to Nevada where my research-based understanding of important issues can help to shape policies and programs to serve the Nevada community." Congratulations, Aeriel!
