2016 Juanita Greer White Distinguished Lecturer: Nancy Knowlton
Nancy Knowlton, the Sant Chair in Marine Science at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History, will be the featured speaker of the Juanita Greer White Distinguished Lecture Series this year. Her talk, titled “Ocean Optimism: Success Stories in Ocean Conservation,” will outline the many triumphs we’ve witnessed in regard to preserving marine life, reducing pollution in our oceans, and more. She will also discuss the ocean optimism initiative she helped launch to ensure continued success in ocean conservation efforts.
The Juanita Greer White Distinguished Lecture Series, which began in 1991, brings an internationally renowned biologist to UNLV each year. The seminar series honors Juanita Greer White (1905-1997), recognizing her status as a pioneering woman in science and her numerous contributions to the advancement of higher education in Nevada.
