At UNLV, students have many opportunities to work closely with internationally recognized Faculty and Guest Artists. Specialized course offerings are designed to help students succeed in the profession. All woodwind students have a weekly repertory class in addition to their private lessons. Our curriculum is comprehensive, covering the traditional core of music theory, music history and piano skills, but also offering courses addressing musicians’ health issues as well as career development. Double Reed players can take Reed Making courses in our specially equipped Reed Making room. UNLV also has options for students who want to improve their facility on multiple woodwind instruments.

Performance for all woodwind students is encouraged both in large ensembles and in chamber music. Scholarships are offered for the Graduate Wind Quintet and for the undergraduate Morelli Quintet. There are many other chamber music opportunities including saxophone quartet, flute ensemble, and clarinet ensemble.

We encourage you to browse this page for more information about our faculty and curricular offerings.
