About Brian Schilling

Brian Schilling joined UNLV on June 1, 2016, as professor and chair for the department of Kinesiology and Nutrition Sciences. He leads three academic program tracks—athletic training, kinesiology, and nutrition—with seven degree options, a growing student population of nearly 1,200, and a research program comprising multiple research and training laboratories.

Dr. Schilling’s research focuses on the physical demands on military, police, fire, and rescue personnel, and also how to best train to meet these demands.

Dr. Schilling earned his M.S. in Exercise Science from Appalachian State University in 1999, and his PhD in biology from the University of Memphis in 2004. He currently serves as the president of the National Strength and Conditioning Association Foundation, which supports the mission of the NSCA through the awarding of scholarships and research grants.
