The Hank Greenspun School of Journalism and Media Studies awards over $20,000 in scholarships every year ranging from $500 to $2,000. We are grateful for our donors and the scholarship opportunities they make available for our students.

Eligibility requirements:

  1. Full-time status during the 2023–2024 academic year:
    • Full-time undergraduate is defined as 12 or more credits.
    • Full-time graduate status is defined as 9 or more credits.
    • Teaching and graduate assistants need 6 credits per semester.
  2. Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  3. There are specific eligibility requirements for some scholarships.
    • Please make note in your statement of goals if you:
      • Are a single parent.
      • Are returning to school after an extended period.
      • Must work full time while taking classes.
      • Are the first in your family to attend college.

Application Instructions

Before completing the online application form, you will need to:

  • Download an unofficial transcript from MyUNLV
    • Please remember to make sure that your pop-up blockers are disabled while using MyUNLV. Enabled pop-up blockers can block the download of the transcript.
    • If you have yet to complete a semester at UNLV
      • First-semester freshman — high school transcript
      • First-semester graduate student — undergraduate transcript
      • Transfer student — transcript from previous institution
  • Write a one-to-two page, double-spaced statement
    • The statement should describe academic and professional goals.
      • PROOFREAD CAREFULLY (Remember, professionalism and presentation count)
  • ONE sample of your best work (writing sample, audio/video project, etc.)

Once you have an unofficial transcript, personal statement, and a sample you can submit a complete application.

Current students must be logged into their RebelMail account to complete the application.
