Bringing together the educational vision of the UNLV International Gaming Institute and the Clark County School District (CCSD) Career & Technical Education Department, Battle Born Girls Innovate (BBGI) introduces young women to Southern Nevada’s science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) careers, demystifies success in these fields, and provides an outlet for them to engage with role models and leaders from the community.

CCSD under-resourced youth participate in interactive sessions, field trips, and hands-on activities led by local, prominent figures from UNLV and Nevada-based technology companies.

Learning focuses on game design and development, innovation, entrepreneurship, and STEAM.

Our hope is that BBGI will give young women the confidence to pursue careers in STEAM fields and provide them with a support network of industry mentors and ambitious, like-minded young women to help them succeed throughout their education and beyond.

“There’s not a lot of women in these types of industries, so things like this can empower us and uplift us...I can see how people would enjoy being in this industry and maybe I (will too) someday.”
