How to Apply

To be considered for the federal Subsidized, Unsubsidized, Perkins, or Graduate PLUS loan, all students must complete the appropriate school year Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. In addition, students who desire a Graduate PLUS loan must also complete the Graduate PLUS loan application worksheet online once UNLV receives their FAFSA information.

The results of your FAFSA application will be sent from the U.S. Department of Education to the UNLV Financial Aid & Scholarships Office. An award notification will be sent to you from the Financial Aid & Scholarships Office within 30 days, assuming your financial aid application is complete.

Parents who want to be considered for the federal PLUS loan must complete the Parent PLUS loan application worksheet online. Although no FAFSA is required to be considered for the Parent PLUS loan at this time, parents are strongly encouraged to complete that as well.

UNLV participates in the William D. Ford Federal Direct Student Loan Program in which the loan application process is through the UNLV Financial Aid & Scholarships Office. An application for a federal student loan from a bank or lending agency is not required and will not be accepted by the Financial Aid & Scholarships Office.
