Best Teaching Practices Expo

About the Expo

The Best Teaching Practices Expo is an annual celebration of excellent teaching by UNLV Faculty. Each year, faculty are invited to submit a poster proposal on a teaching strategy that works effectively with UNLV students.

Posters outline a teaching practice, describe how it addresses students’ needs, and provide evidence of its benefits to UNLV students. Faculty also include supporting resources and explain how other instructors can adopt these practices.

We all learn from one another and connect through our commitment to UNLV students!

Call for Poster Proposals - Due Nov. 14, 2022

Faculty are invited to submit a poster proposal on a teaching strategy that works effectively with UNLV students.

A selection committee will evaluate proposals according to these criteria:

  • the teaching practice and the need it addresses
  • evidence this practice benefits UNLV students
  • resources and where to find them
  • how other UNLV instructors might adopt this practice.

Call for Art - Due Nov. 14, 2022

Module banners in Canvas can be a tool for the creative expressions of teaching and learning. Creating such banners interweaves research, creative work and teaching/mentoring. This call for art invites UNLV faculty and staff to submit their original Canvas Module banner(s) for inclusion in the Best Teaching Practices Expo and becomes part of a peer-reviewed open access digital archive hosted by UNLV Libraries.

Use this proposal form for art.

A selection committee will evaluate submissions based on the submitted artwork and short statements by the artist elucidating how the banner interweaves creative work, teaching, and research.

The artist or collaborators should submit the following materials through the form:

  • Artist or collaborators contact information (anonymized before the peer review process by the organizer)

  • Link to the banner (anonymized before the peer review process by the organizer)

  • 150-250 words: How does the banner interweave creative practice with teaching practice?

  • 150-250 words: Describe the research and creation process that supported the interweaving of creative practice with teaching practice in this banner.
