About #YoSoyUNLV and UNLV's LatinX Activism Week
Due to the lack of visible representation of the LatinX community, UNLV's LatinX Activism Week was created to fill that gap and celebrate the diversity within Latinidad on campus.
UNLV’s LatinX Activism Week (March 25-28th, 2019) was hosted by the LatinX Programs from the Student Diversity and Social Justice Office in conjunction with MECHA and LEAD from the Service Learning and Leadership Office. This event consisted of a multitude of topics surrounding activism and its impact on our local and global communities. These topics included Artivism, Grassroots Justice, Change through policy, and lastly, it ended with a Mercadito and Cumbia party. Lead archivists/student leaders Yesenia Moya Garay, Damian Garavito, and Valerie Alvizo photographed and gathered all pictures and materials. Students and community members are depicted participating in LatinX activism week through polaroids that culminate in the multimedia collage display.
Suggested voluntary contribution:
$2 child and senior.
