Workshop: The Sky We Built
the sky we built
Embroidery workshops hosted by Tiffany Lin
A Common Thread, Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art
Artist Tiffany Lin invites you to join her for two workshops that honor the tradition of skill-sharing among women, the importance of education and community ties. Lin will lead the group in a series of friendship-building exercises as participants add their own embroideries to her textile artwork, the sky we built, currently on display at the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art in the group exhibition, A Common Thread. Each participant will be supplied with embroidery materials by the artist. Space is limited. Reservations are required. All ages are welcome (but please make sure your young ones are old enough to handle a sharp needle safely).
The sky we built workshops will take place at 11 a.m. on May 8, and 2 p.m. on July 3. Each workshop will last for 1.5 - 2 hours. Participation is limited to ten people per workshop session. A Common Thread is part of a partnership between the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art and the Womxn of Color Arts Festival.
No reservation required. Visitors are asked to wear masks unless they are fully vaccinated.
Support for this exhibition is provided by the WESTAF Regional Arts Resilience Fund, a relief grant developed in partnership with The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to support arts organizations in the 13-state western region during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additional programs are funded in part with support from Nevada Humanities and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
