Workshop: Academic Job Positions: Research Statements

By participating in this workshop you will:

  • Discuss how to write a research statement, including what items should be included, its format, how to explain your research projects in concise, non-specialist language, and how to tailor your statement to different positions

  • Understand why they are a beneficial component of your application for an academic position

  • Workshop a draft or complete research statement with other workshop attendees

For this workshop, please bring at least two print copies (or a digital copy) of either a  draft or completed research statement. Participants will exchange their research statements with other workshop attendees. Thus, they will both provide and receive feedback on their statements. In addition, there will be a faculty member present to answer any questions on research statements.
