Description

Join us as our panel explores developing sociopolitical consciousness and culturally sustaining pedagogies within teacher educators. We'll discuss centering transforming teacher education around the assets and experiences of those who have been excluded, and our work as a stepping stone in that process. We will discuss how teaching culturally diverse teacher candidates requires us to understand our identities better, address our complicity in maintaining the status quo, and explore our critical consciousness.

The panel includes:

  • Dr. Iesha Jackson, Assistant Professor, Teaching and Learning, UNLV College of Education
  • Dr. Tara Plachowski, Adjunct Professor, Teaching & Learning and Affiliate Scholar at the Center for Multicultural Education, UNLV
