A Portal to Creative Expression

May 5, 2022 | 7 PM | Area 15

Playwright Margaret Namulyanga, cartoonist Pedro X. Molina, and musician Mai Khoi all live in exile from their respective home countries. They create art that challenges political barriers and state censorship. Walk with these artists through The Portal as we pave a path to freedom of creative expression.

The evening will be moderated by arts lawyer and freedom of expression activist Ashley Tucker.

Towards a Spring of New Ideas

Meet us at the Springs Preserve Amphitheater to hear from legendary writer and social commentator Roxane Gay and author and educator Dr. Eve L. Ewing. The evening will begin with a short introduction by writer Jumi Bello.

Still I Rise: An Evening of Poetry & Music

May 7, 2022 | 7 PM | Fergusons Downtown

Come feel the effects of poetry read to the mountains as the Las Vegas lights flicker in the background. This evening will open with the words of Kaveh Akbar, Faylita Hicks, Elle Hope, and Sin à Tes Souhaits, and end with transformative sounds by musician Mai Khoi and her 3-piece band.


Free events include Missed Connections: The Witness Magazine Launch Party (May 6 at 9 p.m.) and all "Sixth & Bonneville" programs and activities taking place at The Writer's Block (May 7 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.). 

Ticketed events: $10 for students, $15 general admission.
