Description

The UNLV Department of Art welcomes Collective Magpie to the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art on Thursday, October 18, 2018, 7 p.m.for the Fall Visiting Artist Lecture Series.

Tae Hwang & MR Barnadas are a transnational duo and co-founders of Collective Magpie currently based out of the borderlands of San Diego - Tijuana. Their collective action extends the art studio into public space by working directly with and alongside local participants to create art. Through taking public space into the studio and working between different global sites and citizens, the art produced yields hybrid objects and new cultural forms pointing to conflicts of the present day.

The UNLV Visiting Artist Lecture Series features a diverse array of some of the most compelling artists and thinkers working in the art world today. This important program brings both established and emerging artists to visit the campus and discuss their work in public lectures and to offer individual critiques to our BFA and MFA students. This program has established itself as an invaluable resource for UNLV students and the public alike. The primary mission of the UNLV Artist Lecture Series is to educate, inspire and foster a greater understanding and appreciation of contemporary art through visual presentations and discourse.
